MINNEAPOLIS
(AP) - Eloise Pohlad, wife of the owner of the Minnesota Twins and a benefactor
of Twin Cities charities, died at home Thursday at age 86.
Originally
a football fan, she met Carl Pohlad on a blind date at a college game
in 1946. Pohlad bought the Twins in 1984.
Eloise
O'Rourke Pohlad was the youngest of 10 children. She attended Mundelein
College in Chicago for two years, studying home economics. She worked
for several years as a receptionist, teller and bookkeeper for a Dubuque
bank before meeting Carl Pohlad, whom she married April 22, 1947.
Survivors
include her husband, Carl of Edina; three sons, James of Minneapolis,
Robert of Edina and William of Minneapolis; and six grandchildren.
