John Weyhing, after an illness of nearly a year, succumbed last night at 6:30 o’clock to that dread disease, consumption, at the family home, 1018 Wenzel street. He was a brother of Gus Weyhing, the old Athletic pitcher, and now a member of the Brooklyn Players’ League Club.    John Weyhing was twenty-four years of age.
When quite young he developed a fondness for the national game, and up to three years ago, when he entered the professional ranks, he was considered one of the best amateur pitchers in Louisville.
   His first professional engagement was with the Athletics, but he was released about two months after signing. He was afterwards signed by Columbus, and he pitched in some of the exhibition games last spring, but on account of ill health he was compelled to give up playing altogether. He then returned home, and has grown gradually weaker ever since.
    No arrangements have as yet been made for the funeral.
