Kenneth Rogers
Walters Nov. 11, 1933 ~ Jan. 26, 2010 Resident of San Ramon Beloved
husband of Colette Walters. He is survived by sister Fay Scott of Spokane
WA. Treasured father of Kent and Larry Walters and daughters-in-law
Lori and Leslie.
He was blessed with many wonderful grandchildren: Christopher, Matt,
Brian, Jeff, Jason, Katie, Annamarie and Danny; step-grandchildren:
Mallery Mote, Jake Mote, and Lance Bunn. He was always known as Uncle
Ken to his many nephews and nieces.
Ken was born in Fresno, CA in 1933 to Henry and Kate Walters. His family
moved to Oakland, CA in 1935. He graduated from Fremont High in 1951.
Following his graduation he signed a professional baseball contract
with the Detroit Tigers. Ken spent nine years in the minor leagues which
included two years in the military, before finally making it to the
major leagues with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1960. Ken was traded
to the Cincinnati Reds in 1962. He retired in 1965 and moved to San
Ramon, where he lived until his passing.
Ken was a quiet, strong, fun loving man, whom everyone loved to be around.
He married Colette Penhoet in April of 1955. They celebrated 54 years
of marriage together and he treasured his relationship with his wife
and best friend.
His family always said he was a good sport when it came to participating
in everything, even events that didn't excite him. Ken was a proud and
generous person and he will be missed greatly.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no services. Arrangements
are being handled by the Neptune Society of Walnut Creek.
