ORANGE, Calif. -- Bob Starr, the radio play-by-play voice of the Anaheim Angels for 15 years before retiring after last season for health reasons, died Monday of pulmonary fibrosis. He was 65.

  Starr, who worked for the Angels from 1980-89 and again from 1993-97, died at his home in Orange.

  Starr had a 41-year career in broadcasting including 28 in major league baseball. In addition to the Angels, he broadcast games for the Boston Red Sox for three years and the St. Louis Cardinals for eight years.

  Starr also announced for the Los Angeles Rams from 1980-89 and 1993, as well as the St. Louis Cardinals before they moved to Arizona.

  Starr is survived by his wife, Brenda, and two sons, Mark and Jim. No funeral services have been scheduled.
