WADDILL, Randy, age 59, of Tampa, passed away July 30, 2004. A native of Kansas City, Mo. and resident of Tampa since 1979, Mr. Waddill was a Major League Baseball Scout for the San Francisco Giants, a US Air Force veteran and was of the Episcopal faith.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara J. Waddill; daughters, Kristen A. Waddill and Amy B. Waddill of San Francisco, Calif; brother, David Michael Waddill and wife, Cindy of Columbia Mo; niece, Sarah Waddill of Bend, Ore. and nephew, Charles Waddill of Columbia, Mo.

Giants’ scout dies: Randy Waddill, a longtime scout who spent the last 12 seasons with the Giants, died Friday. He was 59.

Waddill died in Tampa, Fla., of hypertensive heart disease, the Giants said in a statement. He was in baseball for 38 years as a player, coach and scout.

“Our baseball operations department will sorely miss his exceptional judgment and tireless efforts,” Giants GM Brian Sabean said.Waddill, who pitched in the minor leagues, worked as a scout for Atlanta and Philadelphia before joining San Francisco in 1993.
