EDWARD G. PIKOR, JR.,
age 56, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 24, 2008. Born
in Meriden, CT on May 30, 1952, he was the son of Edward and Jean Pikor,
and was a long time resident of Fairfield County.
Ed was a graduate of Dean Junior College and the University of New Haven
where he excelled as captain of the baseball team and played football.
He played with the Cape Cod Baseball League, and in 1974 he had the third
highest batting average in the league. He was an accomplished baseball
player and coach, pre-game instructor for the New York Mets, a player-coach
for the Red Sox organization, and scouted for the Cleveland Indians, as
well as the Major League Scouting Bureau.
Ed spent two years with the Netherlands Baseball Association-Kinheim Baseball
Club as a player and coach, and was also associated with the Newark Bears
and the Bridgeport Bluefish as coach. Ed was most proud of his involvement
and accomplishments with the youth of Fairfield County.
He worked with Trumbull and Fairfield Little Leagues and American Legion,
ran various youth baseball clinics, and gave private instruction throughout
Fairfield County. He was the owner of Pro-Net Sports.
Ed worked as an educator for the last 6 years in the areas of special
education and Physical Education. He was most recently employed by Our
Lady of Assumption School in Fairfield.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, Edward Sr. and Jean Pikor. He leaves
his loving children Kimberly and Todd Pikor, his sister Pamela and husband
David Vose, brother Gregory Pikor and wife Rita, sister Penny and husband
Rodney Losi, his longtime companion Wendy Breskin, nieces and nephews
Melissa Losi Armstrong and husband Patrick, Justin Losi, Jillian and Colin
Vose. He is also survived by also survived by three aunts, Helen Fritz,
Ann Pikor and Mildred Caplan, several cousins and many loving friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, September 29, 2008 at
9:30 AM., meeting Directly at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield
Rd., Fairfield., with interment to follow at St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.
Friends may greet the family on Sunday, September 28, 2008 from 3-7PM
in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 S Benson Rd., Fairfield.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Edward's memory to his children's
