Longtime Angels scout Steve Gruwell passes away

ANAHEIM, CA - Longtime Angels
free agent scout Steve Gruwell passed away Thursday (Oct. 9) following
complications from kidney failure at the age of 62. He served as a scout
in the Angels' organization from 1981 to 2000, working during that time
as a free agent scout, scouting coordinator and special assignment scout.
One of the notable players signed by Gruwell was former Angels' and current
St. Cardinals' outfielder Jim Edmonds. Prior to joining the Angels, he
scouted for the Cincinnati Reds organization.
Born Dec. 20, 1941, Gruwell was a longtime resident
of West Covina, CA, and is survived by his wife, Karen, and three children.
Funeral arrangements are still pending.
