John Richard Brown 1945 - 2009

Redwood City, Calif. — Memorial services for John Richard “Rick” Brown, 63, San Carlos, Calif., were Jan. 24 at Crippen & Flynn Funeral Home in Redwood City.

Mr. Brown died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, in Petaluma, Calif., from Alzheimer’s disease.
He was born Oct. 25, 1945, in San Carlos, Calif., the son of Robert Marion and Margaret Marie Brown. He graduated from Carlmont High School in 1963 and the University of California-Berkeley in 1967.

Mr. Brown played minor league baseball in the San Francisco Giants farm team system from 1967 to 1970. He was later a teacher and coach of basketball, softball and football at Carlmont High School.

He married Laura Brown in 1975. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Marnie Brown, Forest Falls, Calif.; a brother, Robert D., Lawrence, Kan.; two nephews; and a granddaughter.
