Lester W. McCrabb, 93, of 433 Kinzer Ave., New Holland, entered into rest on Wed-nesday, October 8, 2008 at the Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Wakefield, PA, he was the son of the late J. Frank and Lillian Hilton McCrabb.

A baseball player, Lester pitched for several local teams including the Lancaster Red Roses and went on to play for the Philadelphia Athletics minor and major league teams from the late 1930's until the early 1950's.

After his baseball career, he built and operated mushroom houses. Lester was a member of Community Bible Church of Leola.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys Sprout McCrabb, of New Holland and a sister, Vera wife of William Herr of Quarryville. Lester was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Caroline Diller McCrabb, along with 3 brothers, James, Charles and Joseph, and also sisters, Myrtle Brown and Dorothy Eckman.

FUNERAL SERVICES: Tuesday, October 14th, at 11:00 a.m. from Dewald Funeral & Cremation Services, 227 W. 4th St., Quarryville. VIEWING: 1 hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday.
