HOLYOKE - Roger J. Marquis, 67, of 5 Lindergh Avenue, died at home Monday, July 19, 2004. Roger was born in Holyoke, MA on April 5, 1937. He was educated in local schools and was a Holyoke High School graduate.

He was co-owner of Marquis Oil for 40 years. He formerly played Major League Baseball for the Baltimore Orioles Organization.

He was a former communicant of Perpetual Help Church.

He is survived by hie wife, Alice (Cook) Marquis; 2 sons, Roger and his wife Kristen of Severn, Maryland, and Mark and his wife Nicole of Bristow, Virginia. He is also survived by one brother, Normand of Florida; one sister, Lillian Freniere of Holyoke; 4 grandchildren: Ashley, Alexander, Evelyn Anne, and R.J.; and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, July 23, 2004 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Church on Chestnut Street in Springfield. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in South Hadley. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. The James P. Hobert & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
