NEW PALTZ - William L. Lohrman, age 86, died 9/13/99, at Vassar Brothers Hospital, Poughkeepsie. He was an owner of the Old Settlementantique in New Paltz. A resident of New Paltz since 1924, and prior to that he lived in Brooklyn, NY. William worked at IBM Poughkeepsie and Kingston for 20 years. He helped manage IBM Country Club for many years, played professional baseball for 14 years; 9 of which were spent in the major leagues - playing for: The Giants, Dodgers, Cardinals, Phillys and the Reds. He was one of the first to organize the New Paltz Little League. He was an honorary member of the Gardiner Rod and Gun Club and a member of the Baseball Old Timers Hall of Fame in Kingston and in Queens, NY. He was also a member of the Alumni Associations of the Dodgers, Phillys and San Francisco Giants, a member of the Major League Baseball Association and the Major League Players Association, Ulster County Antique Dealers; AARP. Born in Brooklyn, NY on 5/22, 1913 he is the son of the late William and Minnetta Hinrichs Lohrman. Mr. Lohrman is pre-deceased by his wife Alma Pedersen Lohrman, who died 8/11, 1991. He is survived by one son: William E. Lohrman of New Paltz, NY; one daughter: Lorna Kiley of West Glover, VT; one sister: Winifred Lohmuller of Madison, NJ; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Pre-deceased by one sister Mildred Lohrman. Calling hours will be held on 9/14/99 from 6PM-8PM at Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 162 South Putt Corners Road, New Paltz, NY.
