Assistant Corporate Council John E. Hayes, whose death occurred yesterday morning after a lingering illness was one of the active lieutenants of Rep Timothy D Sullivan in the 6th Assembly district. He was appointed an Assistant Corporate Council by John Whalen and rep John J Delany. He held various political offices, being in the government for 23 years. In his younger days he was one of the best professional Baseball players in the country. He was a graduate of Seton Hall College and Columbia College Law School His father James Hayes was one of the most powerful politicians in New York and with John Morrissey, controlled the large Democratic vote on the Lower East Side.
