HAMRICK, Raymond
Bernard Of Franklin, TN.
Born August 1, 1921; passed away, June 9, 2009. He is preceded in death
by his parents, John and Willie Mae Merville Hamrick; and brother, Harold
Hamrick.
He is survived by his wife, Ava Thrasher Hamrick and daughter, Billie
Hamrick of California; nephew, Dr. John Hamrick of Williamsburg, VA
and his children, David Hamrick and Jackie Hamrick Finnagan; sisters-in-law,
Dorothy Forehand and Betty Thrasher, Bernise Thrasher and Marie Hamrick;
several nieces and nephews.
Ray served in WWII and played on one of the baseball teams that Admiral
Nimintz, formed to play in the Pacific for the soldier's entertainment.
Ray played professional baseball at Sulpher Dell with the Nashville
Vols, and later with the Philadelphia Phillies and six years with the
Oakland Oaks on the Pacific Coast.
Ray was a member of the Moose Club, the American Legion Post 88, and
the Major League Baseball Association; he was also a member of Granny
White Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on
Saturday, the 13th of June, 2009 in Woodlawn's Dignity Hall.
Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alive Hospice. Active Pallbearers
will be Mac Rochelle, Alex Rochelle, Marcus Rochelle, Gary Watts, Terry
Watts and Joey Watts. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. John Hamrick,
Mike Thrasher, Dr. Bruce Hollinger and Elders of Granny White Church.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family Saturday
from twelve thirty until time of the service at WOODLAWN-ROESCH-PATTON
