George E. Gick

George E. Gick, 92, of Lafayette, died at 10:55 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at St. Anthony Health Care.

He was born Oct. 18, 1915, in Dunnington, to the late Andrew and Helena Niichel Gick. He graduated from Pine Township High School.

On Oct. 20, 1938, he married Anna Marie Sanson in Otterbein. She preceded him in death on Feb. 14, 2005.

Mr. Gick played professional baseball for the Chicago White Sox from 1936 to 1938. He farmed in Tippecanoe and Benton Counties, worked at Alcoa in the remelt department, worked for the State Highway Department and retired from Purdue Veterinary Clinic.

Visitation 5-8 p.m. Friday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., with Rosary at 4:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Fr. Daniel Gartland officiating.

Interment at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
