Tommy Fine Tommy Fine went home to be with his Lord on Jan. 10, 2005, in Little Elm, Texas. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at Field Street Baptist Church in Cleburne. Internment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be served at noon before the service at Field Street Baptist Church. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, at Rosser Funeral Home. He was born on Oct. 10, 1914, in Cleburne, Texas, to Thomas Morgan Fine and Bessie Smith Fine. He celebrated his 90th birthday last year. Tommy was a revered professional baseball pitcher for 20 years, playing with the Boston Red Sox and the old St. Louis Browns. He was also a respected businessman, and through the years teamed with family and friends in several commercial endeavors. He served as a deacon in the Baptist church and gave generously of his time and resources to those in need. Although his years were full of distinguished accomplishments, Tommy always practiced humility to the extreme and set a tremendous example with his consistency, faith and love. His long and illustrious life made a significant difference to all who knew and loved him. Even so, 90 years was too short for those who will miss him. He is survived by Beth Sheppard Fine, his wife of 65 years; son, Thomas M. Fine, III and wife Nancy; four grandchildren, Thomas M. Fine IV and wife Christie, Amber Fine Coates and husband Donnie, Tobi Johnson Cornell and husband Ross, and Walker Johnson; five great-grandchildren, Zachary, Sarah, Garrett, Christian and Sabrina; sisters-in-law, Lillian Sheppard Youngblood and Patsy Sheppard Breedlove and husband Ray; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
