Jim Dyck
CHENEY, Wash. (AP) -- Jim Dyck, an outfielder-third baseman who
played in the major leagues in the late 1940s and '50s, died Monday 1-11-99
of cancer. He was 76. Dyck started his baseball career in Norfolk, Neb., in the early
1940s. In 1948, he moved to St. Louis, where he joined the Browns
and moved with them to Baltimore. In addition to the Browns and the
Orioles, Dyck played with the Indians and the Reds.
He switched to the Pacific Coast League in 1957, playing for
Vancouver and Seattle before retiring in 1960 to help with a family
bowling-alley business.
He had a .246 career average in 330 games, with 26 homers and
114 RBIs.
