ADA — Services for Harry D. Brecheen, 89, Ada, are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Gary Grady officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery.

Mr. Brecheen died Jan. 17, 2004, at a Bethany nursing facility. He was born Oct. 14, 1914, at Broken Bow to Tom and Lucy Tyree Brecheen.

He was a pitching star for Ada High School and later in the Major Leagues for the St. Louis Cardinals. See page 1 for details on his baseball career.

He married Vera Caperton Sept. 16, 1933, at Allen. She died April 6, 1997, at Ada. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Biffel Brecheen.

Survivors include a son, Steve Brecheen and wife Leah, Bethany; a sister, Jo Trammell; and three grandsons, David, Scott and Keith Brecheen, Bethany.
