SANTO DOMINGO.- Rafael (The Rooster) Batista, one of the most transcendental figures of the Dominican ball, passed away in this city at age 63.

Its decease was produced the afternoon Saturday in the Clinical one Gómez Patiño, where was imprisoned on account of a thrombosis that affected him repeatedly.

The Rooster Batista, as was known in the popular slang, was the most productive ballplayer of the Oriental Stars, the team whose headquarters is San Pedro of Macorís.

There was born November 21, 1945 in Consolation, son of the gentlemen Altagracia Batista and Nicolas Sánchez oak Trees, both fallelcidos.

Was married with Light María Corner with whom procreated to Ana, Hilda, Johnny, Frank, Ramona, Nelson and Carlos, besides Raysa, Martina, Jairo and Alfredo Batista Corner.

They were their brothers Ramon and Hector Eduardo, former professional ballplayer.

Batista played since early age in the Ingenuity Consolation and came reinforce that of Ingenuity Future in 1964. Subsequently it entered to the Dominican Air Force (FAD), playing first base.
