“Come ye who labor and are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.”

Herbert Loren Adams went to live with his heavenly Father on February 1, 2012.

Herb was born April 14, 1928 in Hollywood, California. He was the son of the late John Theodore and Patricia Adams.

He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Donna; his son and daughterin-law, Herb and Karen Adams; and his grandsons Joshua and wife Shannon, Samuel and David, all of Tulsa. Also surviving him are his sister and her husband Carolyn and Tom Wachter of California, his sister Jane Pisano of California, his brother David Adams of Florida, many nephews and nieces, and a multitude of brothers and sisters in Christ. His sister June preceded him in death.

Herb lived an abundant life and is dearly loved. He played major league baseball for the White Sox from 1948 – 1950 before the Army drafted him to fight in the Korean War.

After a miraculous recovery from Hepatitis, where he was in the hospital for 6 months, he returned home to his wife and baby son, and played pro ball until 1959. After that, he worked for the Post Office in Wheaton, IL for thirty years.

In 1957, Herb went to a Billy Graham crusade and received salvation. He was miraculously healed in 1984 when Homophiles Influenza nearly took his life, where he spent a month in a coma. God healed him again in 1986 of the Guillain-Barre virus.

Herb was an avid duck hunter and fisherman, continuing to enjoy the sport with his son and grandsons until this last November. He loved the White Sox and never missed a game. Most of all he loved the Lord and served Him with his whole heart, touching the lives of many with his testimonies and encouragement. “Keep looking up!” he would say concerning our troubles and: This’ll be the best thing that ever happened to you. “Now God has healed him completely; he can hear the rejoicing and singing in heaven. It’s the best thing that ever happened to him.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2012 at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel, 3612 E. 91st St. S., Tulsa, OK, 918-291-3500.
