METAMORA - Mary E. "Liz" Rapp, 83, of Metamora, formerly of Peoria, passed away at 3:50 a.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at Snyder Village Health Center.

She was born Aug. 10, 1926, in Peoria to LeRoy and Mary Edna (Bloom) Farrow. She married Gerald G. "Jerry" Rapp on Nov. 9, 1946, in Peoria. He preceded her in death in 2008.

Surviving are two sons, Jerry Rapp of Peoria and Bob (Sally) Rapp of Shawnee, Kan.; two granddaughters, Amy (Pat) Sena of Lincoln, Neb., and Carrie (Brian) Hogan of Olathe, Kan.; and two great-granddaughters, Kaitlyn Hogan and Emma Hogan.

She graduated from Peoria Manual High School.

In 1944, she played in the All American Girls Professional Baseball League. She pitched for the Rockford Peaches and the Minneapolis Millerettes.

She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria. She also was a member of Femmes Unir Woman's Club and the Red Hat Society.

She was an avid bowler and devoted Chicago Cubs fan.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2010, at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. The Rev. Craig Hislope will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery.
