Jerre DeNoble Resident of San Lorenzo "A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN" All American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL) Player Dies.

Jerre DeNoble, 87, passed away at home peacefully on Tuesday, January 18, 2011. A long time resident of San Lorenzo, California.

She went to Peoria, Illinois in 1947 to become a member of the Peoria Redwings of the All American Girls Professional Baseball League. Jerre only spent one year with the team as outfielder. In 1947 Jerre contributed to the Redwings first win that year by crossing the plate with the 12th inning run over the Racine Belles. And they also won the second game that night. They did spring training in Cuba that year.

Jerre had lost contact with her friends from the AAGPBL but thanks to her niece, Kalisa, she reestablished contact in 2010. She attended her first and only reunion in Detroit. There were many tears of joy as she and her former teammates reconnected.

She had a forty year career with the Owens Illinois Glass Company. After retirement in March 1981 she worked as a bartender and focusing on her family and friends. She had also served in the National Guard and drove delivery trucks & cars delivering film.

Jerre became a devoted friend to many in needcooking meals, cleaning, driving and any other needs that they may have. To all that ever met Jerre it only took one time to be drawn in by her infectious smile and laughter.

Jerre had many interest in addition to baseball she played golf, basketball and even owned a race horse at one time that she rode. She was a devoted catholic and a member at St. John Catholic Church in San Lorenzo.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank & Emma DeNoble, brother, Verne and sisters, Dolly, Dovie and Teeny.

She is survived by brother, Melvin & his wife Elisa and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews as well as many cousins. She has a neighbor, Barbara Tuttle, that has been like a sister to her and her care-giver, Susie Titus that has been like family to her.

A memorial service will be held from Noon to 5pm with a vigil service at 3pm on Sunday, January 23rd at Grissoms Chapel & Mortuary, 267 East Lewelling Blvd, San Lorenzo, CA 94580. Friends are invited.

The funeral will be on Monday, January 24th at 10am at St. John's Catholic Church, 264 East Lewelling Blvd, San Lorenzo, CA.
